PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Perform a pilot study that involved stabilizing 1,100 cubic yards of CCR below the ground water level at the former Bailly Station Power Plant in Chesterton, IN
The pilot was performed to establish the mix design and the mixing procedure. The pilot CCR volume was 1,100 cubic yards. The pilot area was divided into 10’x10’ mixing cells designated by East columns and south rows. Three mix designs employed- 4, 5 & 6% Portland cement by weight to the CCR. Prior to the commencement of ISS Tetra Tech excavated the treatment area to 607 MSL in a two-step process shown in the drawing at right. The mixing target depth was 595’ MSL. Pilot was completed in two days.
