PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Stabilize 24,168 cubic yards of soil with Portland cement & 1,782′ of 5′ wide slurry wall
The excavated soil and the dredge material had low level contamination and much of it was very soft. The work started by placing a row of soft fill material on the south side of the fill area where it was stabilized by LTC. The excavating contractor was able to haul over the stabilized material after 24 hours of cure time and deposit another row of soil to be stabilized. Work continued in this manner until the inlet area was filled.
The aerial photo (top right) shows the Berth 10 location before construction began. For construction on Berth 10 it was necessary to fill the water area south of the red line with soil excavated from the land area and dredged from the water north of the line.
The photo (bottom right) shows the Berth 10 project shortly after the inlet area was completely filled and stabilized.
